
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) held a tourism promotion event called Open Thailand Road Show- 2013 at Hotel Taj Samudra recently.
The event, held last Monday (24) was graced by distinguished guests including the Thai Ambassador in Sri Lanka - Mr. Poldej Worachat and the Governor of the TAT - Suraphon Svetasreni.
Speaking, the TAT governor said that out of the foreigners visiting Thailand, 60% were from the Asian region.
“From the Sri Lankan market, we have seen a steady growth in the number of tourist arrivals to Thailand. During the first five months of this year, there were a total of 29,330 tourist arrivals from Sri Lanka with a significant increase of 8%,” he said.
He also said that the core theme of the TAT’s 2013action plan would be ‘Higher revenue through Thainess.’
The event comprised of several other speeches from special guests followed by several dance performances by a group of dancers from a fine arts college of Thailand, which displayed Thai culture and lifestyle.
